President Emanuel Macron has taken his time to react to the widespread protests. Ten days after the beginning of the protests, the president answered this Tuesday, the 27th of November “our middle and labour classes” as he put it. He made clear that he has listened to the protesters and understood their demands. Although not willing to withdraw the taxes on fuel or his general plan to restructure the economy he was willing to put a mechanism in place that would moderate future highs in petrol prizes.
