50,000 solders and 10,000 vehicles are taking part in NATO’s biggest war games since 2002
Norway is the host nation to NATO’s Trident Juncture 18 military exercise that is expected to include 50,000 troups from 30 countries.
The large scale exercise will include operations in the air, at sea and on land and focussing on training the core collective capabilities of the defence alliance.
Admiral James Foggo, NATO’s Allied Joint Force Command Naples, will be the exercise commander and will supervise the operations from the Unites States Navy command ship USS Mount Whitney off the Norwegian coast.

The main exercises will be in Norway but operations will span across Skandinavia, the North Atlantic to and including Iceland.
while live exercises will be held in October, the first military equipment and vehicles already arrived in Norway in August. A command post exercise will follow in November.
